Many cruise ships provide room service. This is a convenience for vacationers, but it can also be a cost. Most mainstream lines offer free room service, while some higher-end cruise lines charge for it. Some lines even provide a complimentary dinner. But in many cases, a tip is not included in the price.
Room service can be ordered from a menu in your room, or it can be delivered to your door. Depending on the cruise line, you may pay a per-item fee or a flat delivery fee. The most expensive option is the specialty restaurant. While the traditional menu includes soups, pastas, and salads, there are also gourmet choices. A few of the more unique items include pizza, caviar, and lobster.
Carnival Cruise Line offers free room service during the day, but there is an extra cost for late-night orders. Carnival charges a small fee for hot breakfast sandwiches. These are available from 6 am to 10 pm.
Carnival offers a large selection of beverages, including sodas, coffee, tea, and beer. Beer options range from Corona to Bud Light, and there are also nonalcoholic choices. Sodas include Diet Pepsi, Sierra Mist Zero, and Pepsi Zero Sugar.
Celebrity Cruises offers an all-day room service menu, and its premium in-room dining menu features premium items such as crab cakes, ribeye steak, and cheese platters. There are also specialty items such as ice cream and shrimp cocktails. Guests can order room service around the clock, but the late-night fee is $4.95.
Disney Cruises’ room service menu has everything from burgers to pizza. There are also cookies, sandwiches, and ice cream. You can get a full breakfast or lunch from room service, including omelets, muffins, and cereal. Unlike on most other cruise lines, you can have your room service ordered on a nightly basis, making it an easy choice for early-morning breakfasts.
MSC Cruises also offers room service, but it is not free. However, you can get a free delivery on a few select menu items. In addition, you can customize your order using the Carnival HUB app. If you are looking to avoid the cost, you can opt for one of their other perks, such as the Aurea Experience or the Fantastica Experience.
Virgin Voyages cruises feature room service. On this ship, you can get Champagne, a deluxe breakfast, and desserts delivered to your room. Unlike other cruise lines, you do not have to tip for these services.
Royal Caribbean International’s room service is also complimentary between 5 AM and midnight. You can also enjoy a buffet for the same price. However, be aware that the room service fee is only applicable to GS and above. Several cruise lines, such as Princess, do not require a tip for room service.
Some cruise lines offer a variety of complimentary meals, but if you want a more customized experience, you can opt for a la carte meal service. In fact, you can even order room service from a poolside cabana.
